Neu! - Neu! 2
Klaus Dinger’s opening drum beat gallops along through the 11 minute opening track “Fur immer” teasing an LCD Soundsystem-esque euphoria that seems imminent. Wisely, Fur immer does translate to Forever, a term that could describe the appeal of their rollicking drums and staccato piano for another 30 years. The rest of the album continues with more digestible song lengths, but more abstract experimentation on each one, pushing the listener to reassess the catchiness of the leadoff track and the soundscape that follows. Neu! 2, like any great sequel, is not better than the original, but it does provide everything you loved about Neu!, along with some new, interesting ideas.
